Comptroller Dera Nnadi Shines with Double Excellence Awards at CGC Gala Night

Comptroller Dera Nnadi, mni, the Area Controller of the Tincan Island Port Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), has been honored with two prestigious awards at the Comptroller General of Customs (CGC) Awards Night. The ceremony, held on Friday, November 29, 2024, in Abuja, celebrated outstanding achievements within the NCS.

Comptroller Nnadi received the Award for Distinctive Performance and an Award of Excellence for Workplace Transformation, recognizing his exceptional leadership and commitment to modernizing the Tincan Island Port Command.

The accolades were presented by the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, and highlighted the command’s achievements in trade facilitation, revenue generation, and infrastructure development.

Under Comptroller Nnadi’s leadership, the Tincan Island Port Command generated an impressive ₦1.2 trillion in revenue as of November 2024. He also oversaw the remodeling of the command’s administrative building, a structure that had stood for over 40 years, reflecting his dedication to enhancing operational efficiency.

The CGC Awards described Nnadi as a leader who exemplifies the ideals and vision of the Nigeria Customs Service. The plaques commended his “distinctive performance” and “commitment to workplace transformation.”

In his acceptance remarks, Comptroller Nnadi dedicated the awards to the officers and men of the Tincan Island Port Command, emphasizing that the achievements were a result of collective effort, focus, and dedication.

“This recognition is a testament to the teamwork, commitment, and hard work of all officers in the command,” he said. “It is also a call for increased commitment as we strive to sustain and improve our performance.”

The Comptroller expressed gratitude to CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, for his support and urged stakeholders to continue their collaboration with the NCS. He also called on business operators at the Tincan Island Port to embrace the NCS Trade Modernization Project, which prioritizes technology-driven operations, trade facilitation, and paperless port procedures.

Addressing his team, Comptroller Nnadi encouraged them to view the awards as motivation to work harder and further enhance the command’s contributions to national development.
