The stage is set for a landmark gathering of women leaders and key stakeholders in Nigeria’s logistics and transport industry as the Women in Logistics and Transport (WiLAT) Nigeria prepares to unveil its commemorative book, The Birth Before the Spread, on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at the NAF Conference Centre, Kado District, Abuja.
The book presentation is expected to attract a distinguished audience of government officials, industry leaders, academics, development partners and private sector stakeholders, underscoring WiLAT Nigeria’s growing influence in advancing gender inclusion and professional excellence within the transport and logistics sector.
According to a statement issued by the Founder of WiLAT Nigeria, Hajia Aisha Ali Ibrahim, former Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajia Zainab Maina, will chair the historic event, while Nigeria’s first female Minister of Transport and Aviation and WiLAT Global Ambassador, Ambassador Dr. Kema Chikwe, will serve as the Chief Host.
Other dignitaries expected at the event include WiLAT Nigeria’s matrons, trustees, pioneers, role models, past and present executives, members of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), and delegates from WiLAT chapters across the world.
Speaking on the significance of the publication, Ibrahim described the book as a celebration of resilience, vision and the remarkable achievements of women who have shaped WiLAT into a global movement.
“This book is more than a historical account; it is a testament to the courage, commitment and collective vision of women who dared to challenge barriers and create opportunities for others. It tells the story of where we started, the challenges we overcame, and the global impact WiLAT is making today,” she said.
She noted that The Birth Before the Spread chronicles WiLAT’s journey from its humble beginnings in Nigeria to its emergence as an internationally respected platform with about 40 chapters across the world, promoting leadership, mentorship and capacity development for women in logistics and transport.
“We want young women and future professionals to see that leadership is attainable through dedication, integrity and excellence. This publication preserves our legacy while inspiring the next generation to dream bigger and contribute meaningfully to the growth of the transport and logistics industry,” Ibrahim added.
Published by Kings Communications Limited, the commemorative book is expected to become an important reference document on the evolution of WiLAT and its contributions to gender inclusion and professional development in the global logistics and transport industry.
The July 30 event is expected to further strengthen WiLAT Nigeria’s advocacy for increased female participation in decision-making, leadership and innovation across the transport and logistics value chain while celebrating the organisation’s remarkable journey from a pioneering initiative to a globally recognised institution.
