Apapa Command of the Nigeria Customs Service celebrates a historic milestone with a daily revenue collection of N16,021,660,412.00 on February 23, 2024, marking the highest in its history.
In a press release by the Customs Public Relations Officer of the command, CSC Abubakar Usman, it states that the Customs Area Controller (CAC), Comptroller Babajide Jaiyeoba, attributes this achievement to strategic initiatives and zero tolerance for infractions, urging officers to uphold the standards set by the Nigeria Customs Service Act (NCSA) 2023.
The remarkable revenue feat, amidst a decline in trade volume, is credited to weekly strategy meetings and increased stakeholder engagements.
These efforts include collaboration with government agencies, importers, exporters, and terminal operators involved in cargo clearance and the supply chain.
Under Comptroller Jaiyeoba’s leadership, there has been a notable improvement in container scanning efficiency, aligning with modern customs administration expectations.
The CAC commends officers for dedication, emphasizing the importance of sincere declaration for time and cost savings, promoting integrity, and creating a win-win situation for all stakeholders.
Importers, licensed customs agents, and freight forwarders are urged to embrace scanning, with the commitment of the Nigeria Customs Service to ICT deployment for trade facilitation.
Comptroller Jaiyeoba highlights that sincere declaration is not only a mark of integrity but also a sound business decision, preventing delays and ensuring the benefits of fast-tracking and potential migration to Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) status.
