Veteran Journalist, Richard Adeniyi to be Laid to Rest on Saturday

The remains of Richard Adeniyi, a distinguished member of the Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN) and a veteran journalist, will be laid to rest in his hometown of Ondo, Ondo State, on Saturday, June 8, 2024.

Mr. Adeniyi, fondly referred to as ‘Baba Richard’ passed away in April 2024 at the age of 86. His illustrious career spanned several decades, during which he worked with prominent newspapers, including the Daily Times. He was also an active member of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, contributing significantly to the Lagos State Council.

Throughout his career, Mr. Adeniyi played a pivotal role in maritime journalism, providing insightful reporting that aided in the development of Nigeria’s seaports. His dedication and contributions to the field were widely recognized and appreciated by his peers and the industry at large.

The funeral rites will commence on Friday, June 7, with a service of songs and a Christian Wake. The interment will take place on Saturday, June 8, followed by a reception at the Ariya Event Centre, Olufisayo Street, Sabo Road, Ondo.

Baba’s contributions to maritime reporting will be remembered  by his colleagues, friends, and family.
