In a bid to tackle the pressing issues of food security and rising costs of essential food items, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has implemented strategic measures under the leadership of Comptroller General Bashir Adewale Adeniyi. The initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s food security agenda and reflects the NCS’s commitment to the well-being of the Nigerian people.

The NCS has launched a comprehensive anti-smuggling operation and public engagement to counter the unlawful exportation of vital food resources. This proactive stance aims to ensure the availability of food within the nation and alleviate the adverse effects of scarcity on citizens.

To address the challenges faced by Nigerians, the NCS will facilitate the direct disposal of forfeited food items to the Federal Government. These items, certified fit for consumption by relevant agencies, will be made available to ordinary Nigerians nationwide through equitable distribution in the NCS’s Areas of Operations.

The disposal modalities will be communicated through NCS formations nationwide, emphasizing transparency, fairness, and public safety. The NCS assures the public that the exercise will be managed diligently to ensure that the benefits reach those most in need.

The Nigeria Customs Service remains steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding the nation’s food security and enhancing the economic well-being of all Nigerians.

The success of these initiatives depends on the unwavering support and cooperation of the public, as together, they strive to overcome challenges and pave the way for a more prosperous future for the nation.
