The Tincan Island Port Area Command has welcomed Comptroller Frank Onyeka as its new Customs Area Controller (CAC), following the promotion of his predecessor, Comptroller DA Nnadi, to the prestigious rank of Assistant Comptroller General (ACG).
Comptroller Onyeka brings decades of experience and an outstanding academic background in Political Science and Public Administration to his new role.
He has served in key positions within the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), including as Officer in Charge of the Premier Port Gate and at Onne Port’s Federal Ocean Terminal (FOT) Gate, where he led transformative initiatives that boosted revenue and secured significant seizures.
During his inaugural address, Comptroller Onyeka pledged to uphold and expand on the achievements of his predecessor, particularly in revenue generation, anti-smuggling operations, and infrastructure development.
He emphasized the importance of collaboration, consolidation, and innovation to align with the Comptroller-General’s policy thrust.
“Working together with all stakeholders – security agencies, freight forwarders, terminal operators, and the media – is vital to maintaining the Command’s legacy of excellence,” Onyeka stated.
Comptroller Onyeka’s leadership style, characterized by inclusivity and innovation, is expected to bring a new wave of progress to the Tincan Island Port Command.
Notably, his tenure at the Premier Port Gate significantly contributed to record-breaking revenue generation, while his efforts at the FOT Gate earned him the inaugural Value Addition Officer Award.
In his farewell remarks, ACG Nnadi expressed gratitude to officers and stakeholders, highlighting the Command’s achievements during his tenure.
The Tincan Island Port Command generated an impressive N1.23 trillion in revenue in 2024, achieving 86.8% of the Federal Government’s target and marking a substantial increase from N716.48 billion in 2023.
Anti-smuggling efforts under his watch also recorded remarkable success, with the Duty Paid Value of seized goods skyrocketing to N4.51 billion in 2024, a significant leap from the previous year’s N1.05 billion.
Stakeholders who graced the occasion charged Comptroller Onyeka to follow the lead of the outgoing controller in continuation of excellence and innovation.
