Nigeria Customs Service Lilypond Export Command Reports Record-Breaking First Quarter Export Performance

The Nigeria Customs Service Lilypond Export Command held a media briefing yesterday, led by the Customs Area Controller, Ajibola Odusanya, to present the remarkable achievements of the Command during the first quarter of the 2024 fiscal year. Despite the economic challenges faced by Nigeria, the Lilypond Export Command showcased exceptional performance in facilitating export activities.

During the first quarter of 2024, the Lilypond Export Command processed a total of 5,891 containers, both 20ft and 40ft, valued at a staggering $236,087,888.53. These containers were filled with various commodities, including agricultural produce, manufactured goods, solid minerals, and more.

The breakdown of export activities reveals a robust contribution from each sector. Agricultural produce led the pack with 4,229 containers, generating earnings of $153,426,308. Manufactured goods followed closely, with 629 containers contributing $22,289,340.77 to export revenue. Solid minerals witnessed a notable upsurge, with 753 containers dispatched, valued at $34,107,959.01.

 Additionally, other goods such as plants & machinery and personal effects were exported in 280 containers, contributing $26,264,280.07 to export revenue.

Comparing the first quarter of 2024 to the corresponding period in 2023, the growth trajectory is impressive. Total containers processed surged by 44%, export commodities’ value increased by 42%, and NESS payment witnessed an impressive 114% increase, reaching ₦1,389,331,520.15. Stakeholder engagement also played a crucial role in the Command’s success, with collaborations with relevant agencies and stakeholders ensuring efficient service delivery.

The Lilypond Export Command expressed profound appreciation to all stakeholders and partners for their unwavering support and collaboration. Under the visionary leadership of Comptroller General of Customs Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, the Nigeria Customs Service remains dedicated to promoting effective trade practices and economic prosperity.
