The Global Transport Policy (GTP) Ltd., a prominent communication outfit, has emphasized the imperative of fostering sustainable conversations to develop an excellent transport infrastructure blueprint aimed at propelling Nigeria’s economic advancement.
Addressing the media during a conference in Lagos last week Thursday, Dr. Oluwasegun Musa, Chairman/Chief Consultant of Global Transport Policy, underscored the significance of a sustainable blueprint for transport infrastructure.
Muse emphasized that such a blueprint would not only facilitate the smooth movement of people, goods, and ideas across regions but also enable states to foster comprehensive transport growth for economic impact through strategic collaborations.
Highlighting the potential of each state in Nigeria, Musa stressed the importance of identifying and harnessing these potentials to encourage investments in the transport sector. He revealed that the upcoming GTP annual roundtable would unveil critical components of the transport industry, serving as prime enablers for rapid growth.
The GTP Annual Roundtable and Bilingual Magazine public launch, scheduled for April 24, will witness the participation of key stakeholders, including the President of Nigeria, Lagos State Governor, and several ministers. Dr. Alban Igwe, a seasoned global transport specialist, will deliver the keynote presentation, shaping the discourse around the theme “Transport Infrastructure and Strategic Policy Intervention: Building Blocks for Economic Growth.”
“The conversation will take place at the GTP Annual Roundtable and Bilingual Magazine public launch slated for April 24.
“The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Lagos State Governor, Ministers of Transport, Aviation & Aerospace Development, Marine & Blue Economy, Industry, Trade & Investment and Foreign Affairs amongst others will attend, he stated “
The event will feature panel sessions involving critical government agencies and international diplomats from France, Singapore, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Discussions will focus on topics such as efficient trade, innovation, social cohesion, and intermodal transport trends in the 21st century.
“The keynote presentation will be delivered by Dr Alban Igwe, a seasoned global transport specialist, who will be shaping the conversation around the theme for holistic engagement.
“The first panel session will have critical agencies of government like the Nigeria Railway Corporation, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, the Nigerian Ports Authority and the Central Bank of Nigeria who will engage on a roundtable discourse,” he said.
Dr. Igwe emphasized the importance of sustainable conversations coupled with strategic actions to actualize Nigeria’s potential in the transport industry. He urged stakeholders to embrace a problem-solving mindset and actively participate in initiatives aimed at driving positive change in the sector.
“We should see ourselves as problem solvers and jettison the notion that this move will not work as others before it did not work.
“Many things hinder our growth in the country, we should be part of those to make the change and we can achieve this by rejigging ourselves to achieve the potential in the sector,” he said.
Musa said that the conference will mark the official launch of the Global Transport Policy Magazine, a bilingual publication aimed at providing authoritative trend-spotting and cross-cutting analysis to shape workable policies and perspectives for better outcomes in the transport sector.
“Global Transport Policy Magazine is aimed at helping local and international governments shape workable policies and perspectives for better outcomes.
“This compendium catalogues global trends, events, innovations, challenges and solutions for holistic analysis and stakeholder engagement with broad industry insight and cutting-edge research,” he said.
With a comprehensive agenda and the participation of key stakeholders, the GTP Annual Roundtable promises to be a crucial platform for fostering dialogue, collaboration, and actionable insights towards building a sustainable and thriving transport infrastructure for Nigeria’s economic growth.
