The Commissioner of Police Ports Authority Police (Western) Command, CP Olanrewaju Olawale Ishola, has assured the public of stringent security measures to safeguard port facilities and other critical national infrastructure in light of the proposed protest scheduled for June 12. This announcement was made available today in a press release by the command.
CP Ishola emphasized that comprehensive strategies have been developed to protect vital facilities such as Apapa Port, Tincan Island Port, Lekki Deep-Sea Port, and other essential terminals, which are crucial to the nation’s economy.
In his statement, CP Ishola warned against any disruptions, asserting that the command will ensure a smooth flow of traffic in and out of all port complexes.
“No form of road blockage, harassment, or intimidation of law-abiding Nigerians will be tolerated,” he stated.
The command is committed to maintaining order and ensuring that vehicular movement remains uninterrupted around the ports.
The Commissioner also called on all legitimate businesses operating at the ports to continue their activities without fear. He assured that the police would act decisively against anyone attempting to infringe on the rights of others.
“All individuals conducting lawful business at the ports are encouraged to remain law-abiding and proceed with their activities as usual. The command will not hesitate to bring to book any person or group attempting to disrupt the peace or violate the fundamental human rights of others,” CP Ishola affirmed.
ASP Isaac Hundeyin, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Ports Authority Police (Western) Command, reiterated the Commissioner’s message, underscoring the importance of maintaining security and order during the anticipated protest.
