The Customs Area Controller (CAC) of Apapa Command, Comptroller Babatunde Olomu, PhD fsi, joined forces with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and other governmental bodies in a “Walk Against Drugs” today.
The event was organized in commemoration of the 2024 International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Drug Trafficking.
Comptroller Olomu was joined by Udotong Noah, Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Apapa Special Area Command, alongside representatives from other government agencies operating within the port.
The initiative aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and the critical need for collective efforts to combat the menace.
During the event, Comptroller Olomu emphasized the importance of inter-agency collaboration for effective intelligence sharing and enhanced public safety. “Working together, security agencies can achieve greater success and better protect our communities than they could alone,” he noted.
The walk underscored the commitment of the Customs Service and the NDLEA to curb drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking, reflecting a united front in safeguarding the health and security of the nation.
The Public Relations Officer for the Customs Area Controller Apapa Command, Chief Superintendent of Customs Abubakar Usman, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the crucial role of such partnerships in ensuring a drug-free society.
The “Walk Against Drugs” event is part of a series of activities aimed at fostering a drug-free society and enhancing cooperation among security agencies to ensure a safer community.
