The serene town of Agbere in the Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa state witnessed a remarkable event as it bid a fond farewell to Madam Theresa Virginia Enisuoh in a memorable burial ceremony on Saturday, April 27th, 2024.
Madam Enisuoh, whose passing occurred on March 21st, 2024, was honored in a vibrant ceremony that drew dignitaries from across Nigeria and beyond.
Government officials from Bayelsa state, alongside the leadership of Tantita Security Services Company, where Captain Warredi Enisuoh serves as the Executive Director of Operations and Technical Services, graced the occasion.
Representatives from the Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) also joined in paying respects to Madam Enisuoh, recognizing Captain Warredi Enisuoh’s significant contributions during his tenure.
Traditional rulers from Gbaramatu Kingdom, members of the maritime media, including the Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN), and locals filled the venue, demonstrating solidarity and love for the bereaved family.
Reverend Father Cletus Okonkwo of St Peter’s Catholic Church, Agbere, led the final burial rites, praising Madam Enisuoh’s legacy of peace and kindness.
During the reception, family members shared touching anecdotes, underscoring Madam Enisuoh’s profound influence on their lives.
Captain Warredi Enisuoh, in a poignant tribute, spoke of his close bond with his mother, highlighting her nurturing presence and unwavering love.
“Mama was a woman of peace who loved her children.
“I was particularly closer to her because of her special fondness for me so much so that she regarded me as her husband.
“She lived most of her life in Canada with my younger sister and every year, during the Mother’s Day celebration, I usually went to Canada and took her out on a shopping spree”
Captain Warredi Enisuoh recounted with misty eyes. He humored the crowd with his mother’s teasing him on his numerous girlfriends while growing up.
The celebration reflected the deep affection and reverence Madam Enisuoh commanded, with her children and relatives praising her maternal virtues.
The impact of the event extended beyond the ceremony itself, as Rev. Fr. Cletus Okonkwo remarked on the positive transformation it brought to Agbere.
The generosity and community-oriented efforts of the Enisuoh family were acknowledged, with gratitude and blessings showered upon them.
“We have had burial ceremonies in this place but this one(Madam Enisuoh burial) was different” Rev Fr Cletus Okonkwo declared.
” Before the burial ceremony of today( April 27th, 2924), the positive impact of the deceased family had already been felt through the amenities they provided for the community.
“A week before the burial ceremony, the people in the town had begun to eat and make merry.
“This makes people to eagerly wait with bated breath for today’s event,” the Reverend Father said, pouring blessings and gratitude on Captain Warredi Enisuoh and his siblings for their welfarism and generosity.
Madam Theresa Enisuoh is survived by her five children, including Captain Warredi Enisuoh, Mrs. Erebi Khan, Mr. Akpoebimowei Enisuoh, Mr. Ebedi Enisuoh, and Mr. Ebiala Enisuoh, along with grandchildren, siblings, and extended family members.
The echoes of Madam Enisuoh’s legacy will continue to resonate throughout Agbere and beyond, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew and cherished her.
