Transport policymakers, industry leaders, academics, and regional partners will converge in Lagos on June 17, 2026, for the Global Transport Policy (GTP) Annual Multimodal Roundtable, a flagship forum dedicated to shaping the future of Nigeria’s transport and logistics ecosystem.
The event, which will take place at the Lagos Marriott Hotel, Ikeja, will focus on driving practical, scalable solutions to enhance safety, efficiency, and sustainability across the country’s transport networks.
This year’s theme, “Transforming Nigeria’s Transport System: Integrating Solutions for Safety, Efficiency, and Sustainability,”underscores the need for coordinated action to modernise Nigeria’s transport landscape.
Now in its third year, the GTP Roundtable has grown into a leading policy platform that brings together decision-makers from federal and state governments, the private sector, academia, and regional institutions such as the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
Nigeria’s push to boost domestic productivity and expand trade under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) has heightened the urgency for improved transport infrastructure and logistics integration. Current challenges remain substantial: logistics fragmentation drives distribution costs to between 20–30% of the value of goods far above the global benchmark of 8–11% while only about 60% of communities have access to basic road infrastructure, limiting market access and economic inclusion.
According to Onoruoiza Mark Onuchi, Chief Operating Officer of Global Transport Policy, the roundtable aims to address these gaps through integrated planning and strengthened institutions.
“Nigeria’s competitiveness depends on how efficiently we move people and goods. This roundtable is designed to bring together the public and private sectors to craft coordinated strategies, from bonded multimodal corridors to a National Multimodal Logistics Council, that can unlock safer, greener, and more efficient transport systems,” Onuchi said.
The programme will feature a series of expert-led panel discussions on key areas of sector reform, including:
• Strengthening institutions and investments to build a resilient transport workforce
• Seamless mobility and integrated transport systems
• Safe and smart mobility
• Reimagining transport for a greener, low-carbon future
A distinguished lineup of government officials, industry veterans, and private-sector leaders will moderate and contribute to the sessions, offering perspectives on policy formulation, technological innovation, and infrastructure development.
The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is expected to attend, alongside senior federal ministers and heads of major transport agencies, who will deliver keynote addresses.
Discussions will spotlight recent policy milestones, including the newly approved National Land Transport Policy of Nigeria, and explore pathways for:
• Stronger public-private partnerships
• Deployment of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS)
• Investment in low-carbon mobility such as electric vehicles
Organisers note that the roundtable is expected to produce actionable recommendations and partnerships that will accelerate corridor development, streamline customs and regulatory processes, and ultimately reduce logistics costs for Nigerian businesses and consumers.
Global Transport Policy has extended invitations to corporate organisations, development agencies, transport operators, logistics companies, civil society groups, and the media to participate in the dialogue and support the translation of policy ideas into measurable outcomes for Lagos and Nigeria at large.
