LASWA Clears Ikorodu Terminal for Full Operations After Waterway Cleanup

The Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) has announced that the Ikorodu Ferry Terminal will reopen for full passenger operations on Monday, January 19, 2026, following a three-month closure.
The terminal was shut down on October 20, 2025, after navigational challenges caused by heavy water hyacinth infestation made the route unsafe. During the period, ferry services were temporarily diverted to the Ibeshe Terminal and Offin Jetty.
According to a statement issued by LASWA (Ref: LASWA/PAU/PR/023), the reopening follows the “successful clearance of the waterway, completion of safety assessments, and consultations with the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA).”
With the terminal now certified safe, all ferry operators have been directed to resume normal services in line with their approved schedules. LASWA further emphasized the need for strict adherence to all existing safety and operational guidelines.
The management assured commuters that it remains committed to ensuring safe and efficient water transportation across Lagos.
