A fire outbreak on a crane at the Lagos Port Complex Apapa was swiftly contained over the weekend, thanks to the joint efforts of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and APM Terminals. The incident, which occurred at one of Nigeria’s busiest ports, was managed without any reported injuries or operational disruptions.
In an official statement, APM Terminals reassured the public that the safety of personnel and surrounding communities remains their top priority.
“We are pleased to confirm that all personnel are safe, with no injuries or fatalities reported. The safety of our employees, partners, and the surrounding community is our top priority, and we are proud that our stringent safety measures played a critical role in preventing any harm,” the statement read.
The prompt response by the NPA and its Fire Service team was also commended by APM Terminals.
“We extend our sincere gratitude to the NPA Management and NPA Fire Service for their prompt assistance in managing the situation,” the terminal operator added. Operations at the terminal have remained unaffected, allowing for continued normal port activities.
APM Terminals has launched a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the fire. The terminal operator further expressed appreciation for stakeholders’ understanding during the incident and reaffirmed its commitment to safety and operational excellence.
