Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TANTITA) has highlighted the importance of inter-agency collaboration, community engagement, and advanced technology in the fight against oil theft in Nigeria. This was emphasized during a public hearing by the House of Representatives Special Committee on Crude Oil Theft.
Capt. Warredi Enisuoh, Executive Director of Operations and Technical at TANTITA, addressed the committee on Friday, presenting a detailed, data-driven analysis of their efforts to combat oil theft.
The hearing was attended by key representatives from various organizations, including the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and Department of State Services (DSS).
“The public hearing underscores the severity of crude oil theft in Nigeria and its far-reaching consequences,” said Capt. Enisuoh.
“TANTITA’s presentation stood out for its data-driven approach, showcasing the effectiveness of our efforts in combating oil theft.”
Capt. Enisuoh emphasized that the public hearing was a crucial step towards addressing crude oil theft in Nigeria, highlighting the need for a collective effort to combat this menace.
“The need for inter-agency collaboration, community engagement, and advanced technology in fighting oil theft is very important to our society,” he emphasized.
TANTITA’s presentation included statistics on oil theft reduction in their operational areas, details of their surveillance and monitoring systems, and success stories of arrested oil thieves and recovered stolen oil.
“Others in the presentation are success stories of arrested oil thieves and recovered stolen oil and recommendations for strengthening the fight against oil theft,” he stated.
In addition to TANTITA’s insights, NNPCL representatives discussed the impact of crude oil theft on the nation’s economy and stressed the importance of collaborative efforts.
NIWA underscored the need to secure inland waterways, while the CBN highlighted the financial implications and advocated for a multi-faceted approach.
The DSS provided intelligence on the modus operandi of oil thieves and called for enhanced security measures.
