Former Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), Barrister Hassan Bello, has been named the Chairman of Primetime Reporters’ 10th Anniversary Lecture and Awards ceremony, scheduled for December 4, 2024. The event will take place at the Welcome Centre & Hotels, Airport Road, Ikeja, Lagos, starting at 10:00 am.
Themed “Leveraging Technology to Maximize the Potential of Nigeria’s Blue Economy”, the ceremony will bring together industry leaders, government representatives, and stakeholders to explore innovative approaches to harnessing Nigeria’s maritime and shipping sector.
Barrister Hassan Bello, a seasoned legal professional and maritime expert, brings decades of experience to the role. A graduate of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and a member of the Nigerian Bar since 1982, Bello has served in pivotal roles across Nigeria’s legal and maritime sectors.
As Executive Secretary/CEO of the NSC, Bello spearheaded transformative initiatives, including the digitalization of port operations, the establishment of inland dry ports, and the promotion of multimodal transportation systems. These efforts positioned the NSC as a key regulator in Nigeria’s port industry and enhanced the nation’s transport infrastructure.
In addition to his role at NSC, Bello is a Fellow of several professional bodies, including the Nigerian Institute of Shipping and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He currently leads Justicia Legal Practitioners and Justicia Consults, while also chairing the Board of Directors of Asirda Development Company Limited.
Primetime Reporters’ Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief, Mr. Saint Augustine Nwadinamuo, highlighted Bello’s stellar record as a key factor in his selection.
“By his achievements in both public and private sectors, Barr. Bello has distinguished himself as a brand everyone wants to associate with. His leadership, dedication, and excellence make him an ideal choice to chair this milestone event,” Nwadinamuo stated.
He further emphasized the positive reception from stakeholders since the announcement, adding that Bello’s involvement has already garnered significant support for the event.
