Apapa Customs Command Celebrates Historic Promotions as 14 Officers Rise to Comptroller Rank

The Zonal Coordinator of Zone A of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Assistant Comptroller General (ACG) Charles Orbih, has charged newly promoted officers of the Apapa Area Command to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and ethical conduct in their duties.

ACG Orbih made the call during a decoration ceremony held at the Command’s auditorium on Tuesday, where 14 Deputy Controllers were promoted to the prestigious rank of Comptroller. The event marked a historic milestone for the Command and was attended by senior Customs officials, families, and well-wishers.

Speaking at the event, ACG Orbih emphasized that the new ranks were a recognition of the officers’ dedication, integrity, and outstanding performance.

He encouraged them to embrace greater leadership responsibilities and ensure the Apapa Customs Command continues to set benchmarks in revenue collection, trade facilitation, anti-smuggling operations, and national security.

“As the Premier Port of NCS in Zone A, you must maintain an unprecedented standard in revenue collection, trade facilitation, anti-smuggling operations, and national security,” Orbih remarked.

The Customs Area Controller of Apapa Port, Comptroller Babatunde Olomu, also commended the promoted officers, highlighting their resilience and commitment to the Service’s goals. He lauded their efforts in driving the Command’s record-breaking revenue generation of ₦2.3 trillion in 2024 for the Federal Government.

“This promotion is a call to even greater service. I urge you to continue to uphold the values of the Service and contribute to its success,” Comptroller Olomu stated.

The promotion exercise also recognized other officers, with 17 Assistant Comptrollers elevated to Deputy Comptrollers and 50 Chief Superintendents of Customs promoted to Assistant Comptrollers.

 Additionally, plaques were presented to distinguished Deputy Comptrollers for exemplary service, including Comptroller Frank Onyeka of TinCan Island Port Command, Comptroller FM Muhammed, Comptroller Salamatu Atuluku, Comptroller Aisha Abdul, and Comptroller CV Eyapade.

On their part, the newly promoted officers pledged to redouble their efforts in delivering efficient service and safeguarding the nation’s economic and security interests.
