NDLEA, Customs Deepen Maritime Security Collaboration as New Tincan Commander Visits KLT

The newly appointed Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Tincan Strategic Command, Commander Solomon Gbadebo Omotosho, on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT) Area Command, Lagos.
The visit served as a formal introduction of the new Commander and an opportunity to reinforce inter-agency cooperation in combating narcotics trafficking along Nigeria’s maritime corridor.
Acting Customs Area Controller, Deputy Comptroller Bolaji Lukman Adigun, welcomed the delegation, describing the engagement as timely given the dynamic nature of threats within the port environment. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to strong enforcement efforts while ensuring the smooth facilitation of legitimate trade.
Adigun stressed the importance of sustained intelligence sharing, coordinated cargo profiling, and joint examination procedures as critical tools for enhancing operational effectiveness and dismantling drug trafficking networks.
In his remarks, Commander Omotosho noted that the visit was essential to establishing an effective working relationship with the KLT Command. He emphasized the need for seamless communication, proactive intelligence exchange, and well-coordinated enforcement activities to deliver measurable success in the fight against narcotics.
He reiterated NDLEA’s readiness to work closely with the Nigeria Customs Service to disrupt illicit drug supply chains and strengthen national security.
The engagement also featured an exchange of plaques between both agencies, symbolizing mutual respect and a shared commitment to deeper collaboration.
Both agencies concluded the visit by reaffirming their resolve to boost operational synergy and maintain a united front in safeguarding Nigeria’s maritime borders against illicit activities.
